Indal Technologies, a business unit of Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Company, located in Mississauga, Ontario, offers unique shipboard helicopter handling solutions which include the Recovery Assist, Secure and Traverse (RAST) and the Aircraft Ship Integrated Secure and Traverse (ASIST) systems. These systems both provide the ability to capture the helicopters on landing, secure it in even the most extreme sea states and traverse in and out of the hangar. The ASIST system requires no men on deck through the whole landing evolution. It uses a vision system to guide a computer-controlled Rapid Securing Device (RSD), which automatically moves fore and aft along the flight deck track to maintain its position directly beneath a probe on the underside of the helicopter allowing for immediate capture on landing. The ASIST provides a high degree of manoeuvrability allowing the operator to rotate a 30,000 pound helicopter through 360 degrees within the confines of the flight deck
